Why I Designed This for My Dad: A Daughter’s Journey in Adaptive Clothing

Adaptive Clothing Designed by a Caregiver: A Daughter’s Journey

"Why I designed this for my Dad."

When we started LS Adaptive, the vision wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was born in the quiet, often difficult moments of watching my dad, Leo.

With nearly 20 years in retail, navigating everything from merchandising, product development, design, to strategic partnerships, I thought I understood how products were made. But it wasn’t until my dad was diagnosed with aphasia eight years ago, followed by my mom’s health challenges, that I realized how much the industry was leaving behind.

I watched a man who could do almost everything struggle with one thing: that "tricky" top button on his pants. It was a barrier to his independence, a tiny piece of hardware dictating his dignity and his autonomy. I knew I had to fix that.

The Full Circle Moment: March 21st

On March 21st, 2026 I reached a milestone that feels bigger than any revenue goal or company growth chart. Quite frankly this is my personal life achievement and I am so honored I was able to provide him with the clothing that was inspired by him.

The journey to this moment hasn’t been easy. After breaking his femur over Thanksgiving in 2025, Dad is currently navigating life from a wheelchair. He isn’t back to his active self quite yet, but as we work toward getting him standing and sitting on his own again, seeing him in these clothes felt like a profound full circle. It wasn't just about the fabric; it was about the freedom.

"Super Helpful and Easy"

The best part? The feedback from his caregivers. They shared that our designs have been "super helpful and easy"during dressing and assisting him. Hearing that our work is providing real-world ease and preserving dignity for the man who inspired it all?

That is the ultimate validation.

Engineering Meet Empathy

I couldn't do this alone. I teamed up with my old colleague, Scott Craycraft. While I focus on the vision , marketing, design, and strategic partnerships. Scott is the "Q" to my James Bond. He’s the engineer and R&D mastermind who ensures our Hana Fasteners™ work intuitively from the first wear.

Living as a full-time caregiver for my parents gave me the "aha moment" that 20 years in corporate retail never could: Clothing should work with your body, not against it.

Our Promise

At LS Adaptive, we speak with quiet confidence. We are human, with lived experience and believe we should make this world a little better when we leave it. We believe in saving time and conserving energy so that people like my dad can focus on the things that matter most. Whether it’s our All That Chino or our Jeanious Denim, every stitch is designed to empower.

Thank you, Dad, for always being my guiding light. You still inspire me and give me the strength to continue this work. You keep showing me through the ups and downs that there are always more tools we can create to help others live a more dignified life.

Every Second Made Easier. Designed to Empower.
